Job description
**We help the world run better**
At SAP, we keep it simple: you bring your best to us, and we'll bring out the best in you.
We're builders touching over 20 industries and 80% of global commerce, and we need your unique talents to help shape what's next.
The work is challenging – but it matters.
You'll find a place where you can be yourself, prioritize your wellbeing, and truly belong.
What's in it for you?
Constant learning, skill growth, great benefits, and a team that wants you to grow and succeed.
**What you`ll do:**
Build and evolve GenAI‑powered, agentic CI/CD tools and services that help database engineers ship features faster and more reliably for our primary stakeholder, SAP HANA Database Development.
You’ll lead complex features within our team’s services, from design to production, with a strong focus on quality, reliability, and adoption.
**Your responsibilities include:**
+ Design, implement, and maintain GenAI/LLM-enabled CI/CD pipelines and automation (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Azure DevOps), delivering robust, scalable, and secure solutions for database engineering teams.
+ Develop and deliver production-quality features and integrations—writing code, troubleshooting issues, and driving solutions from prototype to deployment within the team’s scope.
+ Build and enhance telemetry, observability, and guardrails (hallucination/cost/latency metrics, SLAs), iterating based on user feedback and real-world usage data.
+ Lead and participate in code reviews, author technical documentation, and drive adoption of best practices for testing, security, and maintainability across the team.
+ Work directly with engineers and stakeholders to gather requirements, translate them into technical solutions, and measure impact through working software.
+ Mentor and support junior and mid-level engineers through pair programming, sharing advanced techniques, and fostering a culture of continuous technical improvement.
+ Stay current with GenAI/agentic systems and CI/CD trends, proactively integrating new tools and approaches to improve the team’s platform and workflows.
**What you bring:**
+ University degree in Computer Science or a related field involving software engineering.
+ 5 years building and operating production software (preferably CI/CD services or developer tooling) with recent, hands‑on code ownership of features in production.
+ Very strong Python and engineering fundamentals (testing, code reviews, CI/CD, observability); adept at debugging, profiling, and improving reliability/performance of services.
+ Hands‑on with GitHub Actions / Jenkins / Azure DevOps; able to design, implement, and optimize pipelines (caching, parallelization, secrets, approvals).
+ Practical experience shipping GenAI/LLM features or agentic patterns in production, including safety guardrails and evaluations (e.g., hallucination/cost/latency metrics) and iterative improvement from telemetry.
+ Working knowledge of observability (metrics/logs/traces) and building actionable dashboards to monitor quality and adoption.
+ Clear, collaborative communicator who partners closely with cross‑functional stakeholders and mentors junior/mid‑level engineers through reviews and pairing.
+ Fluency in English.
**Nice to have**
+ Familiarity with databases and performance‑oriented engineering.
+ Familiarity with cloud infrastructure and containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
**Bring out your best**
